The project will test offering time-limited accommodation to enable non-UK nationals to engage with legal advice in order to resolve the immigration status. The maximum period for which accommodation will be offered will be 20 weeks for people sleeping rough who have limited recourse to public funds due to their immigration status.

How we are doing it

We will implement this approach in three local authority areas, working with up to 200 people in each area over the course of the trial. Outcomes for individuals in these three areas will be compared with trend data using a ‘synthetic control’ method of evaluation. We expect to have interim findings from the trial from autumn 2025.
